This in-depth course is delivered over 15 practical training days at our grooming school, alongside theory work that can be completed from home.

 

Perfect for complete beginners, this qualification is designed for those looking to take their first serious step into the grooming industry. No previous experience or qualifications are required, so you can enrol directly onto this Level 3 course without completing Level 2 first.

 

During your training, you’ll gain extensive hands-on experience by grooming a minimum of 10 dogs across at least 6 different breeds, giving you the opportunity to work with a wide range of coat types, styles, and grooming requirements.

 

You’ll develop essential grooming techniques including:

    •    Preparing dogs for grooming

    •    Bathing and drying

    •    Clipping techniques

    •    Scissoring and styling

    •    Nail trimming

    •    Equipment maintenance

    •    Handling and behaviour awareness

    •    Breed styling preparation

 

This qualification includes the following units:

 

Unit 301: Health and Safety in a Dog Grooming Environment

Unit 302: Promote the Welfare of Dogs in Line with Current Legislation

Unit 304: Assess and Plan Dog Grooming Styles and Maintain Equipment

Unit 305: Health Checking, Safe Handling and Canine Behaviour

Unit 317: Prepare, Style and Finish a Selection of Dog Breeds

 

Assessment is carried out through ongoing practical observations and coursework, meaning there are no formal written exams. This creates a more relaxed and supportive learning experience, allowing students to focus on developing their skills in a real grooming environment.

 

By the end of the course, you’ll feel confident grooming and styling a variety of breeds to suit individual client requests. This qualification also provides the perfect stepping stone towards the iPET Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management, helping you continue your journey towards becoming a fully qualified professional groomer.
