Level 3 Award

Our iPET Level 3 Award is a hands-on introduction designed to give you real experience, real skills, and real confidence. Delivered over 5 days at our grooming school, this course combines practical training with essential theory to help you build a strong foundation in grooming.

Whether you’re completely new to the industry, have limited experience with dogs, or simply want to learn how to groom your own breed at home, this course is a great place to start. No previous qualifications are needed, and you do not need to complete a Level 2 course before enrolling.

During your training, you’ll work with a minimum of five dogs across at least three different breeds, allowing you to gain valuable hands-on experience with a variety of coat types and grooming styles.

Throughout the course, you’ll learn key introductory grooming techniques, including:

    •    Preparing dogs for grooming

    •    Bathing and drying techniques

    •    Nail trimming

    •    Basic clipping skills

    •    Introductory scissoring techniques

    •    Safe handling practices

The qualification includes the following units:

Unit 301: Health and Safety in a Dog Grooming Environment

Unit 318: Prepare, Style and Finish Several Dog Breeds

Assessment is completed through practical observations and coursework throughout the week, meaning there are no stressful final exams. This allows students to learn at their own pace in a supportive environment while building confidence as they progress.

By the end of the course, you’ll have a solid understanding of the grooming industry and a clearer idea of whether dog grooming is something you’d like to pursue professionally or enjoy as a personal skill. If you decide to continue your training, you can progress onto the iPET Level 3 Certificate in Dog Grooming and Introduction to Styling.
